Jeans ads: Teens vs. Adults
There are many differences of lifestyle that influence the marketing strategies used to reach teens and adults, and jean ads will differ depending on which group they're trying to target. Most US teens own a smartphone, so many companies target apps and other programs on the smartphones in order to best reach teens. Teens will also respond better to celebrity endorsements, as teen nature of growing and discovering one's self makes them more susceptible to a bandwagon appeal. The styles teens wear are usually a little different than what adults wear, so the style that will be advertised will be different. On the other hand, adult ads may be more focused on a TV or a magazine, and specific social medias such as Facebook, as these platforms are more popular for adults. Unlike teens, a celebrity endorsement may not be as effective, and products with more function than fashion may also be more appealing, resulting in more practical uses of products mentioned in ads. In the case of jeans, these could include a more affordable price or long lasting quality as adults usually have to consider many other uses of their money versus teens. What adults and teens do and are attracted to affect how they are marketed to.
