Elon Musk & Tesla

The SEC complaint alleges that Musk issued "false and misleading" statements and failed to properly notify regulators of material company events. The company was also expecting to be sued, though Tesla was not named as a defendant in the complaint.  CEO Elon Musk has been sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for fraud  Shares of the automaker fell   more than 13 percent in extended trading. The stock is roughly 30 percent below its 52-week high of $387.46. Also previously,  Tesla-owned SolarCity has been investigated by the SEC multiple times but never disclosed those investigations to shareholders.  According to the SEC’s complaint against him, Musk tweeted on August 7, 2018 that he could take Tesla private at $420 per share and that the only remaining uncertainty was a shareholder vote.  The SEC’s complaint alleged that, in truth, Musk knew that the potential transaction was uncertain and subject to numerous contingencies. Nike’s Controversial Week

Image
Because of the existing data of the incredible aftermath of this campaign, it is easy for me to conclude that choosing to use this ad was the best decision for Nike. Even now, weeks later, simply searching "Colin Kaepernick" shows "Nike hits all-time high after Kaepernick ad backlash" as the first article result. I think this was a home run for Nike. I have always been told that any publicity - good or bad - ultimately contributes to exposure for a company. And any exposure - any way to get your name out there is a good thing. Because this ad in particular had so much controversy, it was talked about on so many different platforms and news sources that the brand got so much more publicity than they otherwise would have. As proof, we can examine the Nike stock prices. They are currently the highest they've ever been. Despite the slight drop after it was released, stocks are at all time highs. Social media is very important to examine in this time, and acr...

Promoting Loyalty

Image
People want to feel important,  acknowledged, and valued, which is why brands and companies create lasting connections with the customer. Getting to know a customer on a personal level makes that connections, and loyalty programs are the best way to do that. Being rewarded for purchasing necessities, or items you like seems almost too good to be true. As a result of customer participation in loyalty programs, companies gain lasting customer trust, so the number of returning customers increases, which as a result increases credibility of a company as well. My family has owned a Costco membership since our third visit to the store, and 16 years later we still regularly shop for groceries in larger quantities from there. The benefits the loyalty program offered, for example a credit card, discounts and special coupons had a greater value to us than simply shopping without them or at multiple other grocery stores. In other loyalty programs where benefits are specifically catered ...

McDonald's Product Adaptation

Image
McDonald's is a prime example of a globalization  success with restaurants in 119 countries and business booming. Since the likes of people across 119 different countries is definitely not the same, they've had to alter their products in different ways in order to attract and create loyal customers. Through the following examples, it is evident that McDonald's definitely considered the culture, norms, traditions, and general likes of each area or country. By making their products more flexible to all regions, they are better able to meet a world demand and build the international reputation so vital to their sales. France The Europeans hold eco-friendly and healthier aims to a higher regard, and for this reason McDonalds first changed their red and yellow logo to a green and yellow one in France. The image it implies is a more nature-friendly feel, something that would make a difference to a French customer. New items such as high-e...

Door To Door Organics

Image
On November 17, 2017 Door to Door Organics announced their closing on their website. This untimely announcement, six days before Thanksgiving, was a heartbreaking announcement to many. Those wishing to purchase groceries for Thanksgiving abruptly have had their plans changed, and now have to look to other means of preparation. Door to Door started out as a delivery company in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Door to Door grew, reaching 3 million deliveries, getting B-Corp certified, and accomplishing their 20th anniversary in 2017. They were operating from Louisville, Colorado most recently. This company's main demographic was millennials and people associated with the late Generation X demographic, since these will be the more tech-savvy and modern range of people, and be a part of or have their own family with kids. These people tend to buy things online to ease their daily routine of juggling academics or work or family life. For this reason, its main customers geographically came...

Case Study: Hotels Target Millennials with New Amenities

Image
I think that millennials are viewed as key to the growth of a hotel chain due to the massive share of online presence this specific group has. The internet is accessible to everyone,  and since news and information can spread so fast, this can be very beneficial or detrimental to a company and its reputation. I think a great way for a hotel company to use social media to connect with young travelers is to create a personalized hashtag users can use to directly identify the company. Hashtags are a great way of promotion as well, as they help identify posts and, due to their bandwagon appeal, will promote others to use as well. To market to millennials, hotels are implementing services that make the guest feel more individual and at home. Hotels promote their 24-hour staff, there for the guest's convenience. Some hotels have guide books written by locals, and many have adapted a modern look to their hotel. This appeals to millennial's taste in a minimalistic look. Hotels, such ...
