Case Study: Hotels Target Millennials with New Amenities

Image
I think that millennials are viewed as key to the growth of a hotel chain due to the massive share of online presence this specific group has. The internet is accessible to everyone,  and since news and information can spread so fast, this can be very beneficial or detrimental to a company and its reputation. I think a great way for a hotel company to use social media to connect with young travelers is to create a personalized hashtag users can use to directly identify the company. Hashtags are a great way of promotion as well, as they help identify posts and, due to their bandwagon appeal, will promote others to use as well. To market to millennials, hotels are implementing services that make the guest feel more individual and at home. Hotels promote their 24-hour staff, there for the guest's convenience. Some hotels have guide books written by locals, and many have adapted a modern look to their hotel. This appeals to millennial's taste in a minimalistic look. Hotels, such ...

Jeans ads: Teens vs. Adults

There are many differences of lifestyle that influence the marketing strategies used to reach teens and adults, and jean ads will differ depending on which group they're trying to target. Most US teens own a smartphone, so many companies target apps and other programs on the smartphones in order to best reach teens. Teens will also respond better to celebrity endorsements, as teen nature of growing and discovering one's self makes them more susceptible to a bandwagon appeal. The styles teens wear are usually a little different than what adults wear, so the style that will be advertised will be different. On the other hand, adult ads may be more focused on  a TV or a magazine, and specific social medias such as Facebook, as these platforms are more popular for adults. Unlike teens, a celebrity endorsement may not be as effective, and products with more function than fashion may also be more appealing, resulting in more practical uses of  products mentioned in ads. In the case ...

Elon Musk & Puerto Rico

Image
Elon Musk: a marketing mastermind. His tweet to Puerto Rico had everyone talking-or tweeting-as the move was more than just one for public relations. He purposed a plan to rebuild the fractured electrical grid of Puerto Rico, teaming with Tesla. Tesla has successfully installed solar panels on smaller islands to establish their electrical grids, and as there is no size restriction on how this plan can be executed, Musk and Tesla plan to apply this concept to Puerto Rico. For example, in   Ta'u  American Samoa Tesla  installed a solar grid which can power the entire island and store enough electricity for three days without any sun, as a source from The Verge states. Despite some controversy over the fact that Musk may not follow through with his plan, this could bring him even greater publicity and open up even more work opportunities for him. This solution tweeted out by Musk not only has legitimacy, it is something new. ...

How Companies Apply the Marketing Functions

In marketing, 7 core functions dictate the actions a company takes. These functions are channel management or distribution, marketing information management, marketing planning, product or service management, promotion, selling, and pricing. The following are some examples of how companies have used these methods. The ultimate goal of a company is to have sales and make a profit. If a company is not known, the possibility of clients even considering goods, services, or ideas offered by the company is impossible, which is why promotion is used to inform an audience about a product. Even world renowned and iconic brands, like the Coca Cola Company, regularly use this method. Coca Cola is a sponsor of many different events, a major one being the Olympics. The publicity gained by this company based on being mentioned countless times throughout the Olympics and being associated with this international event increases company exposure. Also, positive sentiments associated with an event li...
